“Ah, I see…” she half-frowns, worrying her lower lip between her teeth. “I’ve been looking for it for some time but. Could you recommend me one of those books you have? About mythical creatures.”
“Have you ever heard of an author named Brenda Rosen?” He questioned, naming the books he knew in his head. “She has several books on mythical creatures, mermaids included. I know I have the general one, but I suspect the book focusing on mermaids only will have to be ordered.”
She clears her throat, sudden embarrassment evident in her stance.
”’Mermaids and other fantastic creatures’, Vol II.” she says all too quickly, as though shameful of her choice in her readings. “It’s okay if you don’t have it.”
He arches an eyebrow, attempting to remember any book with the name. “..Can’t say I have it no.” Standing up he leaves his position behind the counter to move towards the books. “Although I have books on mythical creatures and mermaids are bound to be in it.”
“Hello,” she but mumbled, lifting an arm for a timid and brief wave as she comes up to the counter with a sheepish smile. “I’m looking for a certain book, I’ve been told everywhere they don’t really have it, and I’m really hoping you do—”
He watched as she approached him, shrugging lightly. “Most likely but I would need the name of it.” Shutting his book he placed it carefully on the wooden surface, a single blue mark sticking up from the middle or so from it.
